Meet the Experts Leading the 2024 Standards Revision of Educational and Psychological Testing for the AERA, APA, and NCME Joint Committee

Leading educational and psychological measurement scientists are coming together to upgrade the standards that shape the future of assessment.

The American Educational Research Association (AERA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), along with the Standards Management Committee and the Co-Chairs of the Joint Committee for the Revision of the Standards, are pleased to announce the appointment of the Joint Committee members. The JC is tasked with revising the 2014 edition of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing.

The Management Committee, including Drs. Kristen Huff (NCME), Fred Oswald (APA), and Michael Rodriguez (AERA), will support the JC through the revision and publication process.

The Co-Chairs will lead the process:

Andres De Los Reyes, a professor of psychology at the University of Maryland, specializes in psychometrics and clinical assessment of diverse populations in developmental and mental health contexts.

Ye Tong, senior vice president of assessment operations at the @National Board of Medical Examiners, past president of NCME, and founding member of Women in Measurement, Inc., holds a PhD in educational measurement and statistics from the University of Iowa.

Drs. Ye Tong and Andrew De Los Reyes design and lead a multi-step, inclusive process to gather input from sponsoring organizations, stakeholders, and users, ensuring the Standards remain timely, relevant, and meaningful.

The JC’s diverse expertise and composition will help ensure the Standards address future issues. Nearly 200 nominations were received, reflecting unprecedented diversity in test uses and scholarly perspectives.
